I know this is supposed to be a blog about where to go in Philly, but I heard an ad on the radio for the “Pre-St. Patty’s Day “ event at Club 27 this morning and I feel that I need to share how much I disliked this place when I tried it out about a year ago. To be fair, if this flyer appeals to you, stop reading this post:

Okay, if you’ve scrolled down, good for you. We’ve just weeded out the meat heads.
This is an under-21 club (most of the time), hosted by Q102. I checked it out with a group of friends one night, and the music was so loud that it was just noise, and I think my ears were ringing for a few days afterward. As the night went on the room got more and more crowded, to the point where we could barely move.
The upper floors looked pretty cool, but that’s where the bar is and I was under 21 when I went, so i couldn’t tell you for sure. At one point that night they dropped money onto the dance floor, which caused more of a ruckus than the club could handle. As a particularly small person, I feared for my life.
I know that places to dance are limited when you’re under 21, so try it out if you’re feeling daring, or if you enjoy sweaty guidos bumping into you and/or staring you down all night.
